I bought D - 200 body refurbished - stretching my photo budget. In retrospect should probably have stretched further & bought a new camera body. There is concern that the oldest ( early ) D - 200 bodies were more susceptible to quality build issues. of course my refurbished body has a relatively low serial number - meaning it is one of the early D - 200 bodies. As mighth have been anticipated it developed serious problems. These problems were obvious bands or stripes across entire images - not every one but approximately 50 of 500 photos during a recent event. subsequently the camera body went back to Nikon for repairs & nearly a month later remains with them awaiting parts. Please note: there is a 90 day warranty with refurbished equipment vs. 1 year warranty with new equipment. I really like the D - 20O but ( IMHO ) if you can somehow stretch the budget I ' d highly recommend buying a new camera body.
